This past year has brought an average of 20 attacks a day on staff in prisons in england and wales, following a decline in the number of Prison Officers over the past few years and complaints over pay. Now the president of Prison Governors Association is publicly blaming the government for what she calls a crisis in many jails and unacceptable stress and anxiety amongst workers.
