AN MP has blasted planning laws as a “mess” after it was confirmed work on a controversial housing development near Stockton has breached existing planning permissions. Residents in the village of Thorpe Thewles have complained about trees being cut down and excessive noise at the Thorpe Paddocks development in Durham Road where 31 new homes are being built. Stockton North MP Alex Cunningham reacted angrily after Stockton Council stated landscaping at the development had breached the planning permissions previously given. The council said it had now received a retrospective planning application from developers Homes By Carlton to “regularise” the works already carried out which would be considered in due course.
