When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, what was already a difficult life for homebound seniors across the country became even more difficult. The final days, or weeks, or months, for shut-ins can be dark and depressing, especially in winter months. Isolated from the community at-large, the realities of COVID-19 only exacerbated the problem.
The Christian Science Society of Homer holds a Thanksgiving service at 10 a.m. Nov. 24 at 3774 Bartlett Street. The service will be comprised of hymns, prayers and readings from the King James Bible with correlative passages from Science and Health with key to the scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. Time will be set aside for sharing testimonies and expressions of gratitude. All are welcome at this hour-long service.
I moved to Homer from Arizona 11 years ago. I was just out of college and living on my own for the first time in my life. I was instantly drawn to this town for the beautiful surroundings, but I have stayed here because of the community. I grew up in the suburbs of Tucson, Arizona, which was wonderful, but I always knew I wanted to live in a small town. I think I found the best one around.
