BRYAN, TX â On March 10, Texas health officials announced residents 50 and older will be able to receive the vaccine starting Monday, March 15.
This announcement comes a week after teachers and child care workers were added into Phase 1B for vaccine eligibility.
âEvery dose weâve received, weâve administered. Weâve had no difficulty with that whatsoever,â said Chief Jim Stewart with the Brazos County COVID-19 Vaccination Task Force.
According to the Department of State Health Services, between 10 to 13 million people were already eligible in Texas. Nearly 7 million doses have been administered across the state, with more than 4.5 million people receiving at least one dose.

COLLEGE STATION, TX â On Wednesday, March 10, Texas became the first state to allow businesses to open to 100% capacity and lift the state-wide mask mandate as part of Governor Greg Abbott s Executive Order GA-34.
Despite this announcement, Texas A&M University System is sticking to the new normal, requiring face masks and limiting capacity.
âSo very quickly, we had our discussions internally and what weâve decided to do, is we are staying the course with our existing mask mandates, our existing gathering mandates, and everything else weâve been doing to try and create a safe environment as we can for the students, faculty, and employees under this situation, said Shawn Gibbs, Dean of the School of Public Health for Texas A&M.

LAFAYETTE â Opening a new business during the pandemic doesn t seem like the best idea, but for two businesses downtown, it seemed like the perfect storm.
Robert Brankline, the Executive Chef at Grocery Tavern and Deli, and his staff decided to kick start their business last year when the pandemic began to set in and many non-essential businesses started to close their doors. The whole process of getting things paid for, for the services that we needed slowed down because of all the small business loans that were being produced, says Brankline.

BRAZOS VALLEY, TX â Over the last decade, the Center for Innovation in Advanced Development and Manufacturing, CIADM, at Texas A&Mâs Health Science Center has partnered with biotech companies in the Brazos valley to accelerate research, development, and commercial manufacturing.
On March 3, one of the most recent companies to move to College Station, Matica Biotechnology, joined the ranks of biotech companies partnering with CIADM.
âSo, itâs a unique partnership that you donât find everywhere else in the country. So, a lot of entities, a lot of companies, a lot of startups would love to be in a position Matica is in,â said Stewart.

BRYAN, TX â Life is being brought back into The Queen Theatre in Downtown Bryan all thanks to a two-week movie screening event.
On Friday, March 5, the Queen Theatre Film Society will be showing the movie âWhip Itâ in its partnership with the Brazos Valley Roller Derby, and the City of Bryan.
âThis Friday, first Friday, weâre showing âWhip itâ at the Queen. The Queen is going to open its doors for the first time since the COVID pandemic,â said Alex Garza, President of The Queen Theatre Film Society.
