Two YMCA staff members will begin a five-day, 125- mile walk from Long Beach to the U.S.-Mexico border in San Diego Monday in an attempt to increase awareness of the experiences of runaway and homeless youth.
An estimated 13,300 Minnesota youth on their own experience homelessness over the course of a year, according to Wilder Research. That includes an estimated 5,800 minors ages 17 and younger on their own, and 7,500 young adults ages 18 to 24.
A “Speak Out” event hosted by Oak Tree Youth Resources will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Nov. 16 at Durango Public Library.
