Forced generation outages combined with extremely low temperatures have caused a sharp increase in demand for electric power which can result in an overload of the electrical grid, said Terrebonne Parish Office of Homeland Security Director Earl Eues in a news release. SLECA General Manager Joe Ticheli said that the company has been posting updates on social media urging people to continue to reduce energy use and are currently not anticipating rolling blackouts.
