So the Writers Guild has reached this tentative deal with studios. Those are writers celebrating in los angeles last night, after the agreement was announced. Guild members are now set to vote and decide whether to accept that deal. In the meantime, hollywood remains shut down. Actors are still on strike, No End In Sight there. Economists say this strike has cost the u. S. Economy more than 5 billion. Not only in l. A. , but in other tv and Film Production hubs like georgia and new york. Cnn national correspondent, Camilla Bernal is live for us in los angeles. The big question right now is, one, will it get voted through. But two, whats actually in this deal . I know details are sparse, but camilla, what do we know right now . Thats really what Everyone Wants to know, phil. Ive talked to a lot of writers who tell me, look, were confident in the wga negotiators, because they knew exactly what we wanted. And part of that is higher wages and Artificial Intelligence. There was a huge focus
if that requires giving in they should give in but they re not going to just as the president is not going to. but i don t think voting for clean appropriations bills without border funding is somehow not standing behind the president or capitulating. i think it s looking at the political circumstances as they are and making a determination that you don t want to put up a vote that is not funding the government in certain departments like for instance the irs. so if the democrats are going to put up a bill that funds the irs or an agriculture bill that f d funds snap benefits that is different from the homeland appropriations bill where wall funding would be, there are a lot of republicans i think that are going to say, i don t want to vote against a clean bill for the irs or for agriculture or any other number of different
administration has yet to answer the questions surrounding eminent domain. you have hundreds of miles of private land that would have to be commandeered to build the wall. no one has talked about that. senator lindsey graham had this warning for republicans who are looking to break from the president. if we undercut the president, that s the end of his presidency and the end of our party and we deserve to be punished if we give in now. you buy that? i respectfully disagree. i don t think that the american public looks at shutting down the government over $5 billion for a wall that, look, i voted when i was in congress for the additional $5 billion because i don t think we should shut the government down and i do think you can find $5 billion worth of border security measures that should be further enacted. and he is the president so you need to get the president to sign a bill.
