But the fate of the proposed charter is still in question as the Charter Revision Commission said late Thursday afternoon it plans to appeal the decision in the latest turn in a dramatic legal fight over the revised charter, just as county officials prepare to send the August ballot to be finalized before Detroit election officials print them. Detroiters should have the final say on the revised charter at the ballot box. This three-year effort that involved more than 500 proposed revisions and hundreds of hours of public meetings shouldn t end in a courtroom, Charter Revision Commission Chairwoman Carol Weaver said in a statement.  We are extremely disappointed in the Court of Appeals decision to remove Proposal P from the ballot and are preparing to appeal to the Michigan Supreme Court.
