The Home Minister’s boy
Former inspector-general of police Abdul Hamid Bador has shed light on Home Minister Hamzah Zainudin’s purported attempt to appoint his “boy” to a key position in the police force.
Hamid said Hamzah wanted to replace Special Branch chief Mohamed Farid Abu Hassan with his own man after the police intelligence unit refused to conduct political operations for him.
Hamzah was purportedly enraged when the Special Branch reported him to the prime minister. Farid was asked to resign but was allowed to keep his job after the prime minister intervened.

Iskandar Puteri MP Lim Kit Siang has panned De Facto Law Minister Takiyuddin Hassan s interpretation of the Federal Constitution in an apparent attempt to defend Home Minister Hamzah Zainudin who was accused of interfering in the police force. Takiyuddin ganged up with the home minister to give a perverted interpretation of Article 140 of the Malaysian Constitution, Lim said in a statement.

Hamid was quoted as saying by
MalaysiaGazette that it involved Hamzah s attempt to install his favoured candidate to lead the Special Branch after the police intelligence unit snubbed the minister s request to conduct political operations.

A police report has been lodged over the audio recording of Home Minister Hamzah Zainudin discussing the appointment of his boy in the police force.
The police report was lodged by the pro-tem head of Parti Pejuang Tanah Air s women wing Che Asmah Ibrahim at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters yesterday.
