J. William Hill: The Magic of Entertainment
On display in the Monroe Family Community Gallery from March 27 – May 29, 2021,
J. William Hill: The Magic of Entertainment, is an exhibition by the Atlanta based artist that is meant to evoke strong emotions from viewers. Hill’s work tends to deal in allegories and identity through depictions of amusements and distractions such as parades and circuses; his paintings leave much up to interpretation while presenting the entertainment theme. Hill began painting in the early 1990s as an escape from the horrors of an epidemic he found himself ensnared in. It became a means to hide from the world around him and drew him inward toward a select few friends. The result created a very introverted and often dark persona. He has won awards in local and Southeastern galleries, most recently taking 1st place in a Gadsden Arts tried exhibition for a painting of his mother that drew remarks as “creepy” and �

This winter, five families from Crookston will receive a Welcome Home Kit filled with household essentials through the Bremer Home For Good initiative. Made possible in part by Bremer Bank’s growing partnership with United Way, the Bremer Home For Good collaboration will provide 1,500 Welcome Home Kits to families and individuals who are transitioning from homelessness to secure, permanent housing throughout Bremer’s footprint in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin. Kits will also be given to families who have been hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic and related economic challenges. According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, more than 565,000 people in the U.S. experience unsheltered homelessness each night.
The Holiday Island Elks Lodge No. 1042 is making sure everyone in Carroll County has a warm coat for the winter.
Lodge secretary Al Selleck said the Elks recently donated coats, socks and blankets to Flint Street Fellowship, a food bank located at 28 Flint St. in Eureka Springs. Thats part of an ongoing coat drive, Selleck said.
Weve given Flint Street gently used coats and blankets and winter garments, Selleck said. They take anything coats, scarves, winter hats. The chairman has collected more than 350 garments over the last month.
The coat drive started in October, Selleck said, and hes impressed to see how successful it has been. He encouraged anyone who would like to donate to the coat drive to call 479-253-9783, saying the lodge isnt operating at its regular hours because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The lodge is open on Tuesday and Thursday, Selleck said, and is offering a light meal on Wednesday night.
should i worry? we are talking about blood pressure. i am a 23-year-old man, most recently my blood pressure reading was 145 over 95. i currently triamterene/hyd triamterene/hydrochlorothiazide. how worried should i be? people should go to the doctor, get those home kits? 145/95? i am, i m worried about. and i ll tell you why. because at that young of an age, i worry about an underlying cause of this. the older you get, if you get high blood pressure, it s called essential hypertension where there s no underlying factor or cause. when i m young, the younger you are i m more worried about an underlying cause. like what? kidneys are number one. is there a problem with the kidney? there s blood vessels that lead to the on kidney called the renal arteries.
