Wrexham community group awarded £500 Grant to combat social isolation
A Wrexham community group has been awarded £500 Grant to combat social isolation,
Gresford & Marford Lunch Club received the Home Instead Charities grant, made possible by the local team at Home Instead Wrexham & Flintshire.
The Wrexham & Flintshire office was opened by Matthew Murray-James in 2015, providing personal and companionship care for people to enable them to continue living independently in their own homes.
The £500 was awarded in recognition for the work the group does in tackling social isolation and providing a support network for those people who wouldn’t otherwise have one.
Matthew Murray-James said: “We understand the importance of enabling older people to retain social connections to their local communities in order to stay healthy and happy.

This fourth-annual online fundraiser is aimed exclusively at assisting charitable organizations serving aging adults. The event is set to begin at 9 a.m. on July 13 and continue until 2:00 p.m. on July 16.

“This year, we’re raising funds for the Carefor Eastern Counties Meal Delivery Program, providing nutritious meals to over 500 seniors across the region,” reads a Carefor press release. “Nearly everyone experienced the feeling of isolation and loneliness during the global pandemic. Unfortunately, these feelings are common for the older adults in our community.”
