and demonstrations
Gates opened on the first-ever Grow
Ōtautahi this morning and the Christchurch Botanic Gardens
is already buzzing with people enjoying what the Garden
City’s own garden festival has to offer.
Grow
Ōtautahi is free for everyone over three days – Friday,
Saturday and Sunday 12-14 March – in the Christchurch
Botanic Gardens. The festival is in the area surrounding the
Ilex Café – with signs from gardens
entrances.

The 11 categories include: the restaurant I can’t wait to dine at; the attraction I’ll be visiting first after lockdown; favourite York independent shopping experience; and most surprising York hidden gem. Visit York set up the virtual awards, which will take place across its social media channels to showcase the work of businesses over the last year, their resilience, creativity and passion.
A SCORE of young singers received a prestigious national award for completing a vocal challenge during lockdown. A total of 10 youngsters, who all attend Songbird Singing, were awarded the Hi5 at Home Award for learning a particular song and completing more than five hours of activities around it. The singers learned about Owl City s Fireflies and The Cup Song from movie Pitch Perfect. On hand to help the kids was Suzie O Donoghue, founder of the group. She said: I m so proud of them. They all did an amazing job and had very little help from me, it was mostly independent learning.
