Biden appoints Fil-Am as acting USAID administrator

Published January 27, 2021 8:05am A Filipino-American has been appointed as acting administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). In an update on its website, the organization said US president Joe Biden on January 20 appointed Gloria Steele, who was a career member of the US Government’s Senior Executive Service for over 18 years, to the position. Steele s alma mater in the Philippines, the College of the Holy Spirit Manila, congratulated her on the appointment. USAID is an organization working on international development and humanitarian efforts that also offers foreign assistance. The organization said Steele worked as Acting Assistant Administrator and Senior Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Bureau for Asia from 2015 to 2020 before retirement from Federal service.
