They found a body in one of the cars. The call came at 9 25 when a driver hit a pillar and another vehicle on the second floor and the vehicle caught fire. The Fire Department pulled out a full first alarm to make sure no one else was trapped with the smoke inside the garage. After we distinguished the fire there was one person deceased in the vehicle that was involved in the vehicle accident. The cause of the vehicle accident and subsequent fire is under investigation and the police will take over that investigation. I asked the fire cant if it looked suspicious and he said the person can have had a medical emergency or hurt attack but investigators will determine. Reporter well, right now, they are just speculating. Theyre waiting for a medical examiner to come out and determine the cause of death. Police right now are blocking off the entrance to the parking lot garage across from the main jail and the hall of justice. This accident happened way into the parking garage on the second floor. Preliminarily what the Fire Department investigators tell us, they believe a driver may have suffered some sort of medical ailment, a medical condition. And that caused the vehicle to go out of control. That vehicle then struck a pillar in the garage and struck another car bursting into flames. Witnesses tell me here at the scene that the cars accelerator was still on when they tried to approach it. The tires were popping, the tire tread flying all over the place. They couldnt get close to see if anybody was inside the car. Later, firefighters did determine that somebody was inside the car. They dont know, again, if he suffered some sort of medical ailment. B
