The city of New Holstein will keep its police department. Mayor Jeff Hebl had recommended merging the department with the Calumet County Sheriff’s Department to save one-million dollars over the next five years. Former Chief Brian Reedy resigned following the recommendation last year. This week, the New Holstein City Council voted to retain the department and to begin the process of hiring a new chief.
