After thousands took to social media to vote, the beaver was named Rashford after football hero Marcus Rashford. The baby beaver, known as a kit, was recently found on the Holnicote Estate in Somerset, National Trust, a conservation charity that runs the historic site within the park, announced on Monday. Footage captured by a static camera showed the 6-week-old kit swimming on its mom s back. Following the adorable discovery, the National Trust created a survey to determine a name for the kit, who was born to a beaver nicknamed Grylls.

Nearly 2,800 people participated in the ballot, with more than half the votes in favour of honouring the player. In second place came Banksy with 17 per cent votes. Hope and Pip followed with 16 per cent. The baby beaver known as a ‘kit’ youngster was caught on film at the trust’s Holnicote Estate in Somerset, where beavers were introduced to a 6.7-acre enclosure in January 2020.
