Rebecca Swart, North Clay Street, was pronounced dead at the scene Monday afternoon after the Ford Taurus she was driving north went off the right side of the road, and as she corrected to get back onto 83, the vehicle went into the path of a southbound Dodge Caravan, according to a release from the Holmes County Sheriff s Office. The crash occurred at about 12:50 p.m. They weren t friends. They were more like family, said Dustin Stocker, a co-worker and good friend of Shane Swart, Rebecca s husband.  They re over here about three, four times a week. They were a very outgoing family. Any time I had a hardship in my life, they were right there at my doorstep ready to help out. They re very selfless people. They are good people.

Holmes Fire District No 1 Kyle Yoder Prairie Township Fire Department

MILLERSBURG As a child growing up in the Holmesville area, Kyle Yoder often used to accompany his father to the firehouse in Prairie Township, where his father served as chief. So it is little wonder, once Yoder graduated from Waynedale High School in 1995, he wanted to become a firefighter. I guess you can say, it was in my blood, he said. It was something I always wanted to do as a career. Yoder dove in the deep end, working for two fire departments. He joined the Prairie Township Fire Department in 1995 and served there until 2017. He also served on Holmes Fire District No. 1.
