President ial candidates donald trump and senator ted cruz is over. With less than three weeks until the iowa caucuses, trump and cruise stole the show with the first debate of 2016. Both candidates hitting hard. Today trump says cruzs attacks though were inappropriate. He came at me last nyse inappropriate. And i hit him very heart. And i hit him very hard. And if you want to see how that stacks up against the democratic debates, even with the republican numbers dropping, the republicans are still sitting pretty in terms of the size of the audiences theyre reaching. The democrats of course this year have decided to hide their light under a bushel. So the republicans have done six debates so far. The republicans have only done three. The last two democratic debates with viewership down there in the 8 million range, those were both held on weekend evenings. Not a great time to get big audiences. That scheduling plan is also true of the next democratic debate, which will be this weekend on nbc. 9 00 on sunday. On the sunday of a threeday weekend. Its kind of amazing. The Democratic Party has done everything it can to ensure the smallest possible audiences for their candidates debates this year. I mean, in the big picture theres still nothing to complain about. The numbers are still giant. But fewer people watched last nights Republican Debate than any of the others this past year. The first one youll remember was giant 24 million viewers. The second one 23 million viewers. The third one was 14 million. The fourth was 13 million. The fifth one went up a little bit.
