(StatePoint) As we enter the holiday season and Americans across the country look forward to spending time with family, thousands of service members deployed overseas – many to the Middle
training have been granted 18 days of holiday block leave from fort benning. about half of them are traveling out of the airport here in atlanta. army leaders say during this intense phase of their training, it is important these young men and women get a chance to rest and to show their families and friends how military life has transformed them. we make a handshake with america every time moms and dads drop their young people off to join the army. that s very important to us. we asked some of the trainees what they are looking forward to doing once they get home. probably shopping with my mom and buying her some clothes and some jewelry, too. being able to sleep where i want to. good food and my family. the thing i miss and want to do again. it would be sleep. i live on the west coast of california, i will go to in and out, sir.

9 JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas –Select soldiers in training at the U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence (MEDCoE) will resume off-post privileges, comparable to those in place prior to the pandemic, in time for Memorial Day Weekend. Effective Saturday, May 29, 2021, MEDCoE Advanced Individual Training (AIT) students in phase five and five plus and prior service trainees may request daily passes in the local San Antonio area over the long weekend, May 29-31.
As part of COVID-19 mitigation measures, there are several caveats:
• The local area is defined as inside the 1604 Loop; Sea World and Fiesta Six Flags are authorized.
