Four schools in Zunheboto declared tobacco-free

Dimapur, Oct. 19 (EMN): Zunheboto district nodal officer under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP), Dr. Esther Ngullie, has declared four schools as tobacco-free. The declaration to this effect was made during a meeting of DLCC held in the conference hall of the District Hospital, Zunheboto, on October 18. Dr. Esther Ngullie has appreciated the teachers’ in-charge for their hard work and cooperation in restricting the use of tobacco within the school premises. She also acknowledged the administration and the police department for playing an important role in the achievements of NTCP, statedan update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Zunheboto. She has requested the officials present in the meeting to disseminate about the smoke-free campaign and implement stern action against those offenders. NYKS holds district youth convention in Zunheboto

Dimapur, Oct. 9 (EMN): Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), in collaboration with district administration, organised a one-day mega event titled ‘Yuva Utsav, Yuva Samvaad-India@2047’ on October 8 at Zunheboto town hall on the theme ‘Sense of duty among the citizens.’ The activities of the event, according to a DIPR report, included competitions on young artists camp (painting), young writers camp (poem), photography contest, declamation contest and cultural folk song (group event). The event began with a formal session, wherein the EAC of Zunheboto, N Nyamok Konyak, spoke on various government sponsored schemes, while the advisor of ZAPO, Kikheto Muru; clinical psychologist DMHP, Atolimi Khujumi; and DPO DAPCU of Zunheboto, Hokishe Chophy; touched upon various other topics in their speeches and interacted with the participants. World Drugs Day observed in Longleng, Zunheboto

Dimapur, June 27 (EMN):Government departments and different organisations observed the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking across Nagaland on June 26.  Longleng: The District Police Force (DEF), Longleng observed the day by organising outreach programmes at various churches under Longleng town during the devotional Sunday service. The speakers spoke on the negative impact of drug abuse in the families and society, and the need of public awareness and encouragement for support from all sections of the society to fight the menace of drugs in the district. Testimonies were given by recovering drug addicted persons and skits on “Say no to Drugs” were presented by Sunday school children.
