Tuesday afternoon update: The man accused of shooting a gun at an Austin police officer on Christmas Eve was arrested Tuesday morning in Leander, according to authorities.
Police said 41-year-old Louis Rhyne was arrested around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday near the intersection of Crystal Falls Parkway and Horizon Park Boulevard in Leander.
Anonymous tips provided to Crime Stoppers helped authorities find and arrest Rhyne, according to police.
No other information was made available Tuesday afternoon.
Original: A combined $11,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of a man who authorities say fired shots at an officer on Christmas Eve.
Hays County officials on Monday reported 476 coronavirus cases from November and December that hadn t been previously tallied.
County health authorities also said 437 more people in the area had tested positive for the coronavirus since Wednesday, adding that 14 cases were taken off the county s records to reflect duplications and misclassifications. The local health department in Hays County has corrected its data several times and recently has said it will now review and correct its data on a weekly basis.
With the previously unreported cases and the most recent data accounted for, the county s total number of cases in the area was 10,074 on Monday.
Jan. 5, 2021, update: Austin police have identified the woman who was killed in a crash in North Austin last week.
According to Austin-Travis County EMS, the woman, identified as 34-year-old Mona Ramon, died after her car crashed into a tree in North Austin.
The crash occurred less than a mile east of the intersection of MoPac Boulevard (Loop 1) and Scofield Ridge Parkway, emergency officials said.
On Dec. 29, Austin-Travis County medics around 12:40 p.m. said they received a call about a car that had crashed into a tree, adding that CPR was in progress. About an hour later, officials tweeted that the woman had died.
