Sympathizers of the NDC since the declaration of the Presidential elections have been embarking on demonstration in some cities and towns in the country, challenging the EC to reverse the verdict in favour of its presidential candidate, John Mahama or continue with the demonstration.
AG’s intervention in Amewu’s injunction shocking – Amaliba A member of the NDC legal team, Abraham Amaliba has described as an anomaly, a law suit filed by the state in defense of the John Peter Amewu over an interim injunction secured by the people of Santrokofi, Akpafu, Likpe and Lolobi restraining him from holding himself as MP for the Hohoe constituency. The State through the Attorney General has filed a case at the Supreme Court challenging the order of the Ho High Court and wants the decision quashed. In the suit, the State said the ruling from the court “constituted a patent error” since it did not have the capacity to hear the matter.
Supreme Court to hear Amewu swearing-in case Monday The apex court took this decision on Wednesday, December 30. The Attorney-General (AG) had dragged the Ho High Court to the Supreme Court for granting an injunction against the swearing-in of John Peter Amewu as the Member of Parliament for the Hohoe Constituency. The AG wants the Supreme Court to quash the High Court’s order of injunction and also stop it from hearing the substantive matter brought against Mr. Amewu and the Electoral Commission for lack of jurisdiction. The AG argues, in a suit, that the ruling from the Ho High Court “constituted a patent error” since it did not have the capacity to hear the matter.
