XINING, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) Thirty-eight people have been stopped by police from illegally crossing the Hoh Xil National Nature Reserve, a World Heritage Site in northwest China s Qinghai Province, according to local police Thursday.
Unauthorized entries have been officially banned in the reserve due to safety and ecological concerns since 2017, and winter usually sees the greatest number of illegal crossings.
The reserve s forest public security bureau set up a response team of five policemen on Dec. 7 after receiving a tip-off. For four days the team patrolled over a distance of 1,600 km in search of individuals illegally crossing and hunting in the area famous for its biodiversity and dramatic landscape.
