Reward increased in shooting death of clerk
A $25,000 reward has been posted for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the suspect in the deadly shooting of an Oconee County gas station clerk as new video of the car surfaces.
OCONEE COUNTY, Ga. - The reward leading to the identity of the suspect who shot and killed an Oconee County gas station clerk has climbed to $25,000 as investigators release a new video of a car possibly connected to the case.

Between 2024 and 2027, the Georgia Department of Transportation will construct full interchanges with flyovers on SR 316 at the Oconee Connector and at Jimmy Daniell Road as well as a flyover of Virgil Langford Road without on and off ramps.
These projects will be bundled, Oconee County Board of Commissioners Chair John Daniell told in-person and remote participants in a Town Hall meeting last week.
They are part of a improvements to the Atlanta-to-Athens highway that include flyovers scheduled for 2026 of McNutt Creek Drive, for 2027 of Mars Hill Road, and for 2028 of Julian Drive.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office reported the following incidents:
GIFT CARDS: On March 4, Deputy Kevin Parker met with a 64-year-old Statham man who reported he received a telephone call that day from who he believed was an agent with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. The supposed agent told him his bank account was compromised and he needed to put $1,000 on two Target gift cards. The scammer also informed him his account had been linked to a major cocaine ring and he insisted he get the gift cards. The man purchased two $500 gift cards and gave the man the activation numbers, only to suspect later it was a scam.

Makita U.S.A. hasn’t formally pinpointed its new Flowery Branch location, but Hall County records may have solved the mystery.
Tax records show that the California-based, high-end power tool maker has bought 94 acres off Falcon Parkway in the South Hall city. The $7.8 million sale was done in three different transactions involving two parcels one that is 80 acres and one that is 14 acres, according to the records.
