Honda 2Wheelers To Temporarily Halt Production Operations Across All Four Plants From 1 May

Two-wheeler major Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India will temporary halt production operations across all of its four plants effective from 1 May 2021.
According to the company, the decision was taken in view of the current severe situation on account of the second wave of Covid-19 and subsequent multiple lockdowns across various cities in the country. Honda will utilise this temporary production halt (1st May to 15th May, 2021) for advancing its annual plant maintenance activities, the two-wheeler major said. Depending upon the evolving Covid situation and the market recovery, Honda shall be reviewing its production plan in the subsequent months.

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) on Thursday reported domestic sales of 3,95,037 units in March this year.
The company had sold 245,716 units in the same month last year when sales were impacted by coronavirus-induced lockdown.
Exports stood at 16,000 last month, HMSI said in a statement.
The company said it closed FY21 with total sales of 4,073,182 two-wheelers, including domestic sales of 38,65,872 units and exports of 2,07,310 units.
HMSI Director (Sales and Marketing) Yadvinder Singh Guleria said, FY2020-21 was a year of unprecedented uncertainties. Honda resiliently overcame challenges from lockdowns to unlocks.
