Today, at approximately zero six hundred hours, the legendary SSV Normandy SR1 began obscuring horizons in No Man s Sky. Travellers have made some pretty weird discoveries over the last four years, to be expected in an experience known for its boundless procedural generation, but none as audacious as this. After weeks of reporting new fluctuations within the fabric of the universe, players brought No Man s Sky s second expedition to a close in a way that no one could have predicted – with a collaboration between developers Hello Games and BioWare.
No Man’s Sky‘s fifth anniversary.
“We are thrilled and flattered that BioWare and EA let us pay tribute in this way,” wrote director Sean Murray. “As huge fans of the series, it’s a lovely moment for sci-fi fans. Like everyone else we’ve been rediscovering the amazing universe of Mass Effect through the release of the
Legendary Edition. I still have chills every time I see this incredibly iconic ship warping in, and was delighted to see so many people have the same reaction.”
Patch notes for update 3.41 are as follows:
Added the ability to dismiss a frigate from your freighter fleet via the Fleet Management terminal.
Mass Effect s Normandy Ship Comes To No Man s Sky In Crossover Event
You have until May 31 to unlock the Normandy and add it to your fleet.
Mass Effect and No Man s Sky are crossing over. The famous Mass Effect spaceship SSV Normandy SR1 has been added to No Man s Sky, but it ll take a little work to unlock it.
To get the Normandy, you must complete the mysterious expedition that appeared recently in the game. The mission is only available until May 31, but if you complete it by then, the Normandy from Mass Effect will be yours forever inside No Man s Sky.
There are a lot of unexpected things in gaming in 2021. No Man’s Sky has come a very long ways from the shaky launch it had long ago and is getting fresh new content regularly to show for it. Meanwhile, Mass Effect Legendary Edition
just launched and is introducing and re-introducing players to the beloved space opera trilogy that dominated conversation throughout the 2000s and beyond. Now, for at least a little while, we’re getting them both in one place. No Man’s Sky has just gotten a limited time expedition mission, and there’s a very familiar Mass Effect ship waiting at the end.
No Man’s Sky expedition turns out to be a massive Mass Effect Easter egg
If you’re a No Man’s Sky fan, you’ll probably have been getting stuck into the latest expedition, Beachhead, which has been taking players on quite the trip across the space game’s galaxy. But, not is all as it seems, as it turns out there’s one heck of an Easter egg at its conclusion, which Mass Effect fans will be sure to spot a mile off. Naturally, there are spoilers ahead, folks!
The latest No Man’s Sky expedition – a kind of shared, seasonal experience introduced to the game in March – has got players trying to wrap their heads around what a mysterious device called a ‘Historiographical Dosimeter’ was, and how it works. Today, the mystery comes to an end, as players will discover that lying in wait at the end of the voyage is the legendary SSV Normandy SR-1 from Mass Effect. There’s a clip below to show you this in action, if you’re keen for a peep.
