Muddy’s Coffee House, a low-key gathering spot in San Francisco’s Mission District for the past 27 years, has permanently closed.
The closure, which was first reported by Mission Local, marks yet another longtime business departure from the neighborhood during the pandemic and another farewell to a ’90s-style coffee shop in the Bay Area.
While so-called third wave cafes like Blue Bottle Coffee Roasters and Ritual Coffee Roasters with their focus on single-origin coffees, lighter roasts and minimalist interiors have spread to all corners of the region, some older spots like Muddy’s have stuck around thanks to loyal regulars who love hanging out in laid-back, unpretentious environments.
