PNP logs 80% drop in active Covid-19 cases since September

(File photo) MANILA - The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday logged its lowest number of active coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in over a month. Based on the latest data, the PNP Health Service said there are only 655 active infections in the police force, which translates to an 80 percent decrease from the 3,217 active infections recorded on September 17. The number includes 34 new infections recorded on Wednesday. Some 93 new recoveries also pushed the PNP's tally, meanwhile to 40,923 out of a total of 41,701 total infections. The death toll stands at 123. Some 198,016 personnel or 88.74 percent of the police force's 223,133 personnel nationwide have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, while 22,493 or 10.08 percent have received their first dose. (File photo) MANILA - Some 193,915 personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) have been fully vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). In a message to reporters on Thursday, PNP deputy chief for administration, Lt. Gen. Joselito Vera Cruz, said this is equivalent to 86.90 percent of the PNP's 221,000 members. Vera Cruz added that 11.53 percent or 25,726 have received their first dose and are waiting for their second shot. Meanwhile, 1.57 percent or 3,509 are still to receive any jabs. Vera Cruz earlier said the PNP is likely to start the vaccination of minor dependents of active police officers by November.
