A committed crew of local volunteers are building and distributing beds to children in the community who don’t have them. Many of these families in need who now have beds for their children to sleep in are Midland and Sanford residents, some of whom were flood victims. Other families found themselves facing financial hardships for other reasons. Whatever the case, a new Auburn chapter of the national organization Sleep in Heavenly Peace has sprung up in an effort to make sure no child is forced to sleep on a couch, a blanket or even a floor for lack of a suitable bed. There are other kids who share a bed with one or more siblings.
