very little pickup by the dishonest media of incredible information provided by wikileaks. so dishonest. rigged system. donald trump jr. has now confirmed the existence of these conversations. he posted screen shots of his own of the messages on twitter writing, here is the entire chain of messages with wikileaks with my whomping three responses. which one of the congressional committees has chosen to selectively leak. how ironic. meanwhile, that news came after president trump tried to do some damage control on the last leg of his asia trip. he s walking back comments he made defending russian president vladimir putin, and insulting the u.s. intelligence community. trump told reporters onboard air force one he believed putin s assertion that he didn t interfere with the u.s. election. he said, in effect, he had run out of ways to ask putin and he feared putin was insulted by the question. and he referred to former cia director john brennan, former dni james clapper, as political h
vice president mike pence was quick out with a statement saying he knew nothing about this, no contact with wikileaks, something he had also said during the campaign. don jr. s lawyers were very quick to respond to this. one response i have not gotten though, which i have asked for, is response from trump s lawyers so they have yet to weigh in on this. phil rucker, it was extraordinary this weekend to see, again, how far the president went out of his way to accommodate and show kindness to vladimir putin. in that one case we mentioned at the expense of the home team. that s right, and it s not that surprising because over the course of his presidency, and even during that transition period, president trump has cast doubt on the findings of the u.s. intelligence community that russia did, indeed, meddle and interfere with the 2016 election. that is a definitive finding by his cia, by his fbi, by all of these agencies, and trump has not taken it seriously or even believed it fully. t
i know most the people on his team. i ve either worked with them or been around them in my career in the fbi and they are true experts as what they do. we keep repeating rule one in this kind of thing, never lie to the feds. yet we keep seeing that offense committed amongst smart people. that s right. i don t think they understand, their defense counsel surely do, but each individual count of 1001, what you re referring to, lying to a federal official or fbi agent, carries five years in jail. and a lot of the charges that you ve seen placed on manafort are heavy, heavy hits. he is looking at a substantial amount of jail time if all those go to court and he loses that battle. robert anderson, i d like to take tonight to invite you back on our broadcast. we d love to have you talk about this some more and toss you some questions about this extraordinary case. we really appreciate you coming on. robert anderson, a veteran of law enforcement and specifically of the federal bureau of
indictments, the papadopoulos guilty plea, we bring your attention to a column in time magazine called how robert mueller works a case. we quoted from it on friday night s broadcast. it s written by a former colleague of the now special counsel robert anderson who served as assistant director of counterintelligence under then-fbi director robert mueller. it says, expect more indictments, more charges, and he sees the hallmark signs of a russia spy game with the ultimate goal of getting at donald trump but adds this, if i want to spy on trump i don t need or necessarily want to get directly in front of him. i ll use sources or i will use an intermediary known as a cutout. the russian intelligence services will then dangle something the cutout wants whether it s sex or money or drugs or information. in this case, it was hillary clinton s e-mails. robert anderson has been kind enough to join us on tonight s broadcast. first of all, sir, do you concur with the opinion i hear express
national organic search for the one guy to perform in this job as special counsel, considering all the weight upon him now, robert mueller is about the best american you re going to find? oh, he is absolutely the guy for this job. i mean, as you know, brian, bob mueller is a true patriot from being a marine in vietnam, to a seasoned united states attorney, then he was the second longest sitting director in history of the fbi besides j. edgar hoover. i still remember right after 9/11 i was a supervisor at headquarters watching bob mueller come in and take charge of that room right after one of the most catastrophic events in the history of this country. i ve never seen the man flinch. yeah. people in law enforcement and law tend to approach him with something approaching awe which is rare these days. to your theory of the soft underbelly, and russian ways of operating, we hear this a lot, too. would that match these descriptions you re reading of someone like papadopoulos as a way t
