The Honolulu Festival has been canceled for the second consecutive year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The event had been scheduled for March 12 to 14.
The festival, which celebrates cultures across the Pacific Rim and includes a fireworks show, typically draws thousands of visitors to a series of events held at the Hawaii Convention Center, Ala Moana Center, International Market Place, Waikiki Beach Walk and other locations. After thoughtful discussions with state and city officials as well as our Honolulu Festival Foundation board of directors, it was determined that holding a large-scale event in March would not be possible under Honolulu s current Covid-19 health and safety guidelines, Hiroyuki Keith Kitagawa, president of the Honolulu Festival Foundation, said in a statement. We realize there will be many who are disappointed to hear this news; however, the well-being of the community remains our top priority.
