SRINAGAR: The Border Security Forces (BSF) on Saturday detected a tunnel in the Pansar area of Jammu division. “The tunnel has been detected between border outposts 14 and 15,” said a BSF in a statement The treacherous stretch from Banihal to Chanderkote, in particular, has been the most fatal.

JAMMU, Dec 13: Huge turnout of 68.5 was recorded in sixth phase of the District Development Council (DDC) elections in 17 seats spread over nine districts of Jammu region today which remained peaceful barring stray incidents of complaints and verbal duel among supporters of rival candidates.
Significantly, voting was highest at 76.7 percent in Balakote Territorial Constituency of Poonch, 74 at Nowshera seat and 74.1 in Doongi segment in Rajouri district, all three of which fall along the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan and were regularly being pounded by mortar shelling and firing by the enemy troops.

JAMMU, Dec 12: Thirty one Territorial Constituencies will go to polling in Phase-VI of the District Development Council (DDC) elections in Jammu and Kashmir tomorrow for which 7.48 lakh electorates are eligible to exercise their right to franchise.
In Jammu division, 17 seats spread over nine districts will have voting tomorrow which include Balakote in Poonch and Nowshera in Rajouri whose number of polling stations fall well within shelling and firing range on the Line of Control with Pakistan for which the concerned district administration was keeping the fingers crossed as the Pakistani troops resorted to shelling and firing in Balakote this evening for about half an hour.
