Bryant’s Breakfast is more than just a place to find a mighty fine breakfast, it’s one of those uniquely Memphis gathering spots.
For more than 50 years, Bryant’s Breakfast has served hungry Memphians and been a gathering spot for people from all parts of the city.
Prior to the pandemic, guests could be found in lines that snaked throughout the dining room – often extending out to the sidewalk in front of the restaurant.
Freshly baked Southern biscuits, fluffy pancakes, full breakfast plates, omelets and decadent cinnamon rolls are a handful of the menu items guests would patiently stand in line for.
“I’ll never have to cook again!” a passer-by exclaimed when she peeked in the new shop going in at 182 E. Center St. in Hernando.
Mrs. Hippie Eats is a new take-and-bake shop by Heather Ries. The store opened April 9 in the space that was formerly the commissary kitchen for Area 51 Ice Cream.
“I want to help make dinner easier,” Ries said, “especially since people are eating at home more often now.”
Mrs. Hippie Eats has a wide selection of frozen casseroles and soups ready to thaw and reheat. Ries will also have a handful of fresh items, like chicken salad and pasta salad, for grab-and-go.
