The Supreme Court declined to halt Hindu prayers in the Gyanvapi mosque s southern cellar in Varanasi and maintained the status quo on Muslim namaz offerings. It requested responses from the Kashi Vishwanath Temple trustees and priest Shailendra Kumar Pathak Vyas by April 30, addressing a plea from the mosque management committee against an Allahabad High Court ruling allowing Hindu prayers in the cellar.
