Emergency crews in Roane, Morgan and Cumberland counties, as well as UT Lifestar, Tennessee Highway Patrol and Knox County Sheriff s Office helicopters, are searching for an airplane that suddenly lost connection with officials in Knoxville, David McLarty, Rockwood Airport spokesperson told Knox News.
Authorities are working with McGhee Tyson Airport and the Federal Aviation Administration staffers to determine the last location of the plane while simultaneously searching land near Hinch Mountain and the Morgan County/Cumberland County line for the aircraft.
According to McLarty, the plane carries four passengers. Those searching for the plane have reason to believe the aircraft could have crashed because the pilot had reported engine trouble, McLarty told Knox News.
