The nationwide war between labor and Amazon saw battle in the Merrimack Valley’s back yard Monday afternoon, as crowds of union workers and their supporters gathered in front of the future Amazon distribution center in North Andover to protest what they say are labor abuses by the e-commerce behemoth.
“We represent thousands of members at UPS and DHL Express, where they receive a fair day’s pay for a fair day’s work, great health benefits, and a pension that they can retire on and have the same standard of life they had when they were working,” Mari said. “Amazon is the exact opposite.”

Prince George industrial park plans huge spec warehouse expansion

The Richmond market’s industrial real estate sector continues its strong start in 2021, with a complex in the region’s southern half set to expand by nearly 50 percent.
Tennessee-based The Hollingsworth Cos. is preparing to begin work on a 650,000-square-foot industrial building in the Southpoint Business Park in Prince George.
Located at 6162 Quality Drive, the park currently houses about 950,000 square feet of industrial space across 11 buildings on its 152 acres. Hollingsworth began developing the park 15 years ago, adding to a portfolio of 18 million square feet of industrial space, located mostly in the Southeast.

On Thursday, the city of Knoxville held a virtual call with a representative for the company as well as a developer that s been in local headlines recently: Hillwood Enterprises, LP.

Much of the action around Richmond Raceway these days is from folks attending large vaccination events. But a codenamed industrial project planned nearby could soon be a sizable sight to behold.
Dallas, Texas-based Hillwood Enterprises is planning a five-story, 2.6-million square-foot warehouse complex on a 247-acre parcel just north of the raceway, according to documents on file with Henrico County.
Richmond Raceway owns the land in question, which sits at 5900 and 5901 Richmond Henrico Turnpike. It’s northeast of Azalea Avenue and Wilkinson Road, bisected by the Richmond Henrico Turnpike. The property was most recently assessed by the county at a combined $5.25 million.
