HILLSDALE - As restoration continues on the Dawn Theater, the Friends of the Dawn are calling for story tellers to share a memorable story or significant involvement surrounding the historic theater in Hillsdale. We would love to hear from those who could share their special history in the documentary currently being filmed about the theater’s rehabilitation story, group member Mary Bertakis said.
The group was awarded a grant by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs in February of 2021. Money from the grant will be used for producing a documentary about the dawn theater; it s history, the current rehabilitation project and future implications of what the rehabilitation can do for our town, along with a few special stories of local residents, Bertakis said.
