A Hillsboro man has been charged with felony drug possession following the execution of a search warrant at home along the 200 block of East Lilly Avenue.
According to Hillsboro Police, the warrant was served at 226 East Lilly after on Thursday, July 9th.
During the search, a large amount of methamphetamine, heroin and pills were seized along with surveillance equipment, scales, cash, and drug paraphernalia.
Brian New, 40, of Hillsboro, was arrested for first-degree felony Aggravated Possession of Drugs. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Hillsboro Municipal Court on Monday, July 12th.
In addition to Hillsboro Police, the Highland County Sheriff’s Department, the Greenfield Police Department, the Highland County Prosecutor’s Office and the US 23 Major Crimes Task Force assisted in the investigation, and the execution of the warrant.

Three indicted on child sex counts by grand jury

Of the 15 people indicted by a Highland County grand jury Tuesday, three face child sex abuse charges and seven others face multiple counts of drug possession, trafficking and smuggling.
A case against accused child rapist Garrison M. Salyer, 25, Hillsboro, was bound over to a grand jury after he waived his right to a preliminary hearing in Hillsboro Municipal Court on April 27.
Salyer was indicted on twin charges of first-degree rape Tuesday in connection with an April 22 municipal court affidavit that accused him of the rape of a minor under the age of 10. He reportedly admitted to a counsellor that he sexually abused his then 1-year-old son on multiple occasions in 2019, with the indictment specifying that the incidents occurred between Jan. 1 and June 1, 2019.
