After initially resisting calls from the mayor to delay passing a law to allow backyard chickens in Bethlehem, city council agreed to push back a final vote.
After a three hour meeting Tuesday and heated back and forth between the mayor and a council member, Bethlehem unanimously approved an ordinance allowing residents to keep chickens in their backyard.
Retiring Bethlehem police officers can buy their weapon back from the city for market price after city council votes to approve the purchase. But some on council are questioning whether the city should be putting weapons in the hands of retired officers.
