Ex-Sanders aide: Biden trying to find 'most unsympathetic character' to avoid cancelling student loan debt

Speaking on Hill TV’s “Rising,” the co-host of the Bad Faith podcast was discussing comments Biden made on student debt relief during a CNN town hall on Tuesday. The president said that he didn’t have the power to cancel up to $50,000 in student loan debt, but was prepared to forgive $10,000 instead. “It’s not true, Joe Biden has the authority to cancel all student loan debt,” Gray said. Gray explained that the government is now deciding that student loans are a “risky behavior” that shouldn’t be rewarded after allowing students to take out debt on the belief that education drives the workforce.

Intercept bureau chief on tensions between Iran and Trump in last weeks of his presidency

Ryan Grim, the D.C. bureau chief at The Intercept, on Tuesday said that the tensions between President Trump Grim told Hill.TV’s “Rising” that experts think that the president wants to strike Iran on his way out from the White House but his advisers are recommending against it.  “There is a belief among people following this that Trump wants to strike Iran and has been actually attempting to execute on that desire over the past week or two,” Grim said. But the attempt “is being thwarted by people around him, who recognize that this is just an expression of some kind of lingering resentment toward Obama and the Iran deal and is in no way in the U.S. national interest,” he added.
