The Beacon Hill Black Alliance for Human Rights put on a Back-to-School Supply Drive for the new school year in the upper parking lot of Decatur High School on Thursday, July 27. The drive was held in partnership with City Schools of Decatur and sponsored by Davis Bozeman Law Firm with support from Black Man Lab.
The Beacon Hill Black Alliance for Human Rights led a vigil on Sunday, Jan. 29 in response to the death of 29-year-old Tyre Nichols, who died three days after being beaten by Memphis police officers following a traffic stop on Jan. 7.
Beacon Hill Black Alliance for Human Rights and the City of Decatur’s Second Annual Pan African Festival took place in Decatur Square on Saturday, Aug. 20.
The first installment of the Beacon Hill Concert Series was held on the lawn at the Beacon Municipal Center Plaza at West Trinity Place and Electric Avenue on Sunday, March 27 with Beacon Hill elders sharing memories of their community and listening to live music from John Boy & Surround Sound.
On Weds., Feb. 9 in downtown Decatur, the Coalitions for Diverse Decatur/DeKalb, Beacon Hill Black Alliance for Human Rights, the Justice for All Coalition and A Home for Everyone in DeKalb led a protest demanding DeKalb County do more for homeless residents.
