On this fine Easter weekend, I give you a few stories of the early days of the Porcupine, as told to John Campsall by Porcupine pioneers Neva Lane and Hilda Arnould (the Davis sisters), and Elizabeth Townsend, former telephone operator.
Neva started out by telling a bit of the family history; Mr. Davis worked at the Scottish Ontario Mine in 1910 and brought his family up 11 days after the July 11
th fore in 1911. The young girls stayed at the mine manager’s home for a week until tents were distributed to those who had lost homes during the fire.
