A total of forty-eight Corps Members have received a total of N16.5million Unity Bank’s business grants to finance their businesses.
This is coming after their business proposals which cover agriculture; craft and fashion design, education, shoemaking among others scaled through different stages of professional vetting.
In his virtual interaction with Corps beneficiaries on Monday, the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim said the Corps Members were selected from NYSC Orientation Camps in Edo, FCT, Lagos and Ogun States.
While commending the Bank for providing financial grants to beneficiaries, he said the pilot project of the “Corpreneurship Challenge” would create opportunities for self-employment and wealth creation and also reduce the increasing number of unemployed graduate youths.

The National Youth Service Corps on Monday identified inadequate funding as the major challenge affecting its Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme.
The organisation said that despite the hiccups, it had recorded tremendous success in the implementation of the SAED programme.
In a statement by its Director (Press and Public Relations), Mrs Adenike Adeyemi, Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim, stated this in the speech delivered during the 2021 NYSC SAED stakeholders’ meeting and training of desk officers, held in Abuja.
He said the NYSC would not rest on its oars in its quest to sustain and build on the achievements made within the last one year towards making corps members employers of labour.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has under its Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme (SAED), empowered 30 corps members with a total sum of N9 million.
It said the winners, drawn from three states received a package of business mentoring and funding totalling N3,000,000 for corps members per camp.
Speaking at the 2021 NYSC SAED Stakeholders’ Meeting and Training of Desk Officers, held at the National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja, the Director-General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim identified inadequate funding as a major challenge affecting its skills acquisition programme.
He said the scheme will strive to ensure that it sustains and build on the achievements made within the last year towards making corps members employers of labour.

Ibrahim stated this on Monday at the 2021 NYSC SAED stakeholders’ meeting and training of desk officers in Abuja.
