From La Ronge: Get To Know Us is an upcoming art exhibit to be hosted by Saskatchewan’s Government House.
It will feature 33 pieces from 19 artists from Air Ronge, La Ronge and the Lac La Ronge Indian Band. The exhibit was organized by the La Ronge Arts Council and member Caron Dubnick said it was a chance for Saskatchewan residents to get to know the tri-communities a little better.
“It’s an opportunity for La Ronge artists to reach a wider audience, but our premise at the beginning of this was to celebrate the fact one of our local boys, Russell Mirasty, was named as the lieutenant governor,” she said. “It’s an achievement for him personally, but it’s an achievement for northerners because he’s an Aboriginal person from the North and he has been honoured with this position. We’d like to celebrate that.”
