Muscat: Khalid bin Hilal Al-Hajji has harvested in his farm a single beetroot that weighs a little more than 8 kilograms.
He planted the sapling six months back in his farm in Manah town and while the rest of the crop harvested were normal in size and weight, this whooper came as a surprise package.
Oman has been producing successful agricultural stories lately thanks to the enterprising spirit of Omani farmers and also the proactive assistance given to the farmers by the Oman’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MAFWR).
MAFWR has been seriously engaged in making Oman self-sufficient in agricultural produces and has successfully launched many schemes to enhance food security and provide economic sustainability to farmers.
