A MAN was taken to hospital after being injured in a head on head collision on a road “notorious” for being an accident blackspot. Urgent calls for action have been made as residents fear a fatality could happen if something isn’t done to tackle traffic on the road. The crash happened at around 6.45pm on Saturday on Peterborough Way, Basildon. Witnesses reported seeing police, ambulance and fire services in attendance as they dealt with the aftermath of the crash. Hazel Lane, 47, said: “I live just along the road and I heard this skid before the crash. “The guy in the smaller car got out and he was clutching at his chest. They took him to hospital.
