A proposal to flatten Highpoint Motors on Wolverhampton Road has been submitted to Sandwell Council. In its place a block would be built containing 15 apartments with 18 car parking spaces. A design and access statement notes that: The proposal will see a car sales and service business removed from the site which currently gives rise to a number of anti-social effects in respect of noise and air pollution. The provision of apartments constructed to modern building regulations is expected to reduce the level of noise and air pollution arising from the site. It also states that: Small car sales operations are finding it increasingly difficult to compete with the larger retailers and the long-term operation is no longer deemed to be sustainable or viable.
