Highland County Juvenile Court Kevin Greer has granted temporary custody of four children to Highland County Children Services following an emergency hearing Thursday, April 22.
According to Greer, he granted custody late Wednesday afternoon after receiving a case filing at 3:43 p.m. seeking “emergency temporary custody” of the four children.
“I felt like the allegations were extremely serious, and it was needed to protect the children,” he said.
During the hearing, Greer interviewed case worker Amber Schiller regarding the dates outlined in the complaint filed in Juvenile Court, which alleges that the four children are endangered, neglected and/or dependent.

During an emergency hearing Wednesday, Dec. 16, Highland County Juvenile Court Judge Kevin Greer granted custody of an allegedly abused, neglected and dependent 11-year-old to the Highland County Children Services Agency, while also strongly admonishing the agency.
“Somebody’s going to end up getting seriously injured or worse because of the decisions made by our Children Services,” Greer said during the hearing.
The case was filed in Juvenile Court Tuesday, Dec. 15, after which, Greer said he issued “an immediate order” granting temporary custody to the agency.
