High-speed chase leads to 2-hour stand-off | News, Sports, Jobs

Newcome BUCKHANNON A Rock Cave man faces multiple charges after allegedly leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase and engaging in a stand-off with officers that lasted two hours before he set fire to the woods and was ultimately arrested. Chad C. Newcome, 40, was arrested for armed robbery, fleeing with reckless indifference, driving revoked DUI third offense and wanton endangerment, all felonies. Magistrate Mark Davis set bond at $40,000. The incident began at approximately 3 p.m. on Wednesday, when Newcome, 40, allegedly confronted the owner of a 2018 Dodge Ramp truck at the Arlington Mini Mart with a shotgun, according to a press release from the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department.
