Dear Editor, I wish to thank the High River Town Council for their incontrovertible response to the Atrum Mining Group presentation at a special council meeting last Friday. The message to the company was very clear – we do not want coal mines on the Eastern Slopes, with the hope that we can eventually abolish all coal mining in the Rocky Mountains. I encourage other municipal councils to follow suit and reinforce the stance that any economic benefit from the proposed mines is just not worth the environmental devastation that will result.
